The Artisan Abode Branding Session
Hey there friends! We are back again with another branding session! I LITERALLY cannot tell you how excited I am to blog these sessions. Not that I wasn’t excited to share past senior sessions and weddings but this has so much more that goes into it so there is so much more to share! So I’ll stop wasting your time and just jump into it!
This session was with The Artisan Abode aka: Brooklyn. Brooklyn and I have worked together a couple of times for styled shoots but I couldn’t be more excited to capture her brand and actually meet in person! At the start of the personal branding experience we finalize a date and then take about 30 minutes over Zoom to talk about your brand and the stories you want to tell! For Brooklyn we discovered quite a few things:
She has a dark green vibe as apposed to the “light and airy” look that is also popular
She loves her work and has a goal to own her own retail space one day
Her son is a huge part of her life and she wanted to showcase that she is a working Mom
She LOVES coffee
Also she wanted to show off her newly decorated office
From that since she has a beautiful and newly decorated office in her home, it only made sense to photograph there. I got up early and made my way to Brooklyn’s. I walked in her office and couldn’t believe how much it screamed her brand. It couldn’t have been a more perfect space to work with!
Right from the moment of our Zoom call together I know Brooklyn and I would get along great. She played with her son while I took pictures of her office space and we chatted away. I couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful morning to spend with! I got to learn more about her and how this business was really an accident. She went to school for event planning and soon realized it wasn’t for her. While on the job a client needed some calligraphy work and Brooklyn took it upon herself to learn. Then BOOM! her business was born! She hasn’t stopped since.
I started the session by capturing her work space as a whole, details of the space as well as the tools she uses everyday. Then I brought her in to show her working in her space as well as some headshots (which are of course necessary). Then we brought her son in which was the best part! He’s so interested in what his mom was doing that it made or all the cute pictures! He even wanted to be my assistant and draw on my timeline lol. We ended the session with a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse dance party which is Brooklyn son’s favorite.
This is one of the main things I strive to do in my sessions; make the pictures seem as natural as possible. With a two year old involved, there is no way that he was going to sit still and pose perfectly. And why should he? That’s not how the days typically are in their house so why should they be posed that way? Any timeline planning was to keep us in a frame of mind of how much time I had and so we didn’t miss any shots we wanted to get. This also built in time for any meltdowns or needs to take a break and come back to taking pictures. I knew it was a lot to ask of a two year old but he did great! I let life happen at these sessions so your audience can really connect with your through your images and not look like another perfect influencer. This is your real life so why don’t you show it?
