Karlyn & Chad's Five Year Anniversary
I was so excited when Karlyn asked me to capture this special moment for her and her husband Chad. We couldn't have asked for a better day to walk down memory lane and celebrate their five years of marriage!
About ten years ago Chad and Karlyn meet working together at Arby's and from what Karlyn has expressed, the rest is history. Having a four year difference between the two of them, they were in very different stages of life when they met. When they got married Karlyn was still in college which wasn't always the easiest. In these five short years so much has happened for these two and they wanted to celebrate how much they have accomplished together over the past five years.
We started at their adorable house in Chilton as they told me all of their stories from their wedding day. Not to mention I made a new friend with their loving little puppy Winnie. :)
After a quick outfit change we made our way to a church downtown. The Holy Land is locally known as the string of tiny little towns and villages along the lakeshore and Chilton is right on the outskirts. In a town about 6 miles from their house is the Church/School Karlyn's dad used to attend when he was a kid. Growing up, Karlyn had so many family get-togethers and parties there. It was condemned in 2005 because of a priest shortage. Karlyn wanted to get married there, but obviously, that wasn't an option. Unfortunately, we weren't able to make it to that particular church but in downtown Chilton we found one that Karlyn's relatives got married at.
We recreated moments from their wedding day in their dapper outfits as well as being spotted by friends in town.
Lastly, we headed back to the house for one last outfit change. As I helped Karlyn into her wedding dress she relayed her story of finding her wedding dress. For any brides to be, Karlyn has some advice for you when finding your perfect wedding dress. The biggest thing she described was going to a locally owned boutique as well as not being afraid to express your opinions of the dress or veil, etc. (Side note, the flowers and cake Karlyn got from local businesses. Make sure you support your small businesses!)
Our last location was "the woods". About 10 years ago, Chad to Karlyn out to this meadow on his Grandpa’s wooded land. It’s about a 15 minute drive from their house outside a village called Saint Nazianz. It was like out of a dream. There were wildflowers everywhere, and a small pond, perfect for this intimate moment for the two of them. This location meant the most to the two of them and I could see it on their faces when we arrived.
Karlyn had a five year cake made so they could recreate cake-cutting pictures that they were unable to get on their wedding day. It was such an honor to be in that clearing with them to see their relationship come full circle. Here's to many more years of marriage!
