Cricket's Photography Branding Session
Hey there friends! It’s been a while but I’m sooooooo excited to share this branding session with you! Today I am sharing a branding session with my good friend Cricket. We met at Hope Taylor’s Nashville Retreat last year. She is so sweet and has an incredible way to capturing her senior clients! When I moved to Nashville I made a point to meet with Cricket and another photographer I met at that retreat, Neely. They helped me answer all my questions on moving to a new state to the point that it made me feel like they were my Nashville moms. (lol) Anyway, enough of me rambling and onto the session!
Cricket and I went back on forth on things that she was interested and what would work best for her for her business for this session. Here is what I discovered:
Cricket loves ALL THINGS PINK
She has a bright and fun personality that she loves to showcase with her clients
She has a love of bringing people joy through her photos
She loves the Victorian style architecture and design
Not to mention, she loves all things pretty!
From that I had a few options, clearly there really wasn’t a ton of Victorian architecture in Nashville but it wasn’t until I drove past Belmont campus one day. PERFECT!! This campus LITERALLY had everything; beautiful columns, interact detail in gazebos and beautiful gardens. What would be better?!?!
Cricket and I had such a fun time exploring the campus and catching up! Not to mention I had the most fun trying to make it seem that we were not on a college campus. Can you tell? I loved being able to be challenged creatively to give Cricket some beautiful photos that completely represents her and her brand.
One thing that I get very often is what a branding session actually is and how can it help your business. There are two parts to that; one it’s a session where we are telling the story of you and/or your business through pictures. These can then be used on your website, for a launch, emails, social posts, about pages, you name it! Have you heard the saying, ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’? Well my job is from your pictures to have the words that come to people’s minds when they see them, be the ones they want you want them to have.
For example; Cricket has a bright and fun personality and loves pink. I wouldn’t want to put her in front of a black wall or have her wear gray. I would want her dressed in pink maybe up against a white wall or within flowers like the picture below. All to convey a consistent message. The second point is that it’s not always about the pretty headshot. Yes there are those BUT as a graphic designer and a branding photographer I am thinking of your website designer that may need a “stock type” photo of you taking pictures to use as a background or a great header that will draw people into your site. Not all the pictures can be vertical and have you in the center. They need to be ones where you are on the left side of the frame so text can be written on the right, etc. These sessions take MUCH more planning which is why it’s not like any other sessions.
I love getting to see my clients share their new pictures and seeing all the comments of how they truly capture who they are and what they stand for. That means so much to me because it shows that I’m doing my job right. I strive to capture your unique brand and personality in your photos. I’m not like any other photographer that poses you the same way as everyone else, because YOU AREN’T EVERYONE ELSE! Why should you be? That’s what makes you awesome and genuinely, you.
