Puppy Engagement Session

The first weekend in December I meet up with Natalia and Chris to be able to catch the last warm rays of fall before we headed into winter. That is so weird to say for me being a born and raised Wisconsinite, but I can’t complain about this amazing weather! Not to mention how we couldn’t have picked a better day for this session. This couple is SERIOUSLY couple goals….they even had matching jackets. How cute is that!??! Not to mention that their dog Ghost was so cute and played along for the pictures. Being only six months old, he was a natural! I couldn’t say enough good things about Natalia and Chris and how welcome they made me feel in this new city! I can’t wait to meet more couples to capture their love together. (Couples can be with out without puppies in tow ;))

The struggles of imposter syndrome

I don’t know about you, but there were sometimes this year where I struggled with imposter syndrome. Who am I to pursue this career in running my own business? What makes me good enough to do this? I’m sure I’m not the only one with those thoughts. In fact I have talked to other entrepreneurs that felt the same way. The world has a way of making you feel that what you are doing isn’t worth a dime sometimes, and in no way is this blog post a way for me to complain about how hard it is to run a business. Yes, it is hard, but if things were easy everyone would be doing it. Everyone tends to have those moments of self doubt, I mean we are only human! It’s natural to feel that way. But you need to remember why you started this journey to begin with. What can you bring to the table other can’t?

Why you should have your pictures taken

Having your pictures taken may seem like something that we cringe at the thought of, but take a moment and hear me out. Think back to a company you really liked, a company that you really connected with. Why did you connect with it so much? It is probably because you can see yourself in the brand, in the owner, etc. Those companies usually have a face to their brand. It makes people connect with their company on another level. Which then leads to loyalty to the company. What I am getting at is being a small business owner is hard, you don’t want to be another faceless business. You want to be able to connect with your customers or clients so they will want to invest in what you want to offer.

Julia and Zach's Milwaukee Zoo Wedding

On a chilly morning of September 29th, I exactly drove to St. Elizabethan Church in New Berlin. I couldn’t have been more ecstatic to photograph this wedding. Julia has been a friend of mine for almost five years; we were camp counselors together through college and we had field trips every summer at the zoo. It really came full circle to be able to capture her wedding and be a part of their special day.

Burlington Fall Wedding

I had the most wonderful opportunity to be the second photographer along side Brittney Mangold Photography. (Go check her out if you are in the Burlington area!) We got to capture the beautiful wedding of Lauren and Vaughn. These love birds have actually been in each other’s lives since second grade. There was a picture they had displayed of the two of them in the same first communion class. They had no idea that each other was in that same class! Small world, but the stars aligned and brought them together when they got to high school.

Madelynn's Waterfall Senior Session

After several days of rain I got to capture this ray of sunshine! Madelynn was such a joy to work with and we made the best of our very mosquito-y situation. She is a senior at Franklin High School and is looking to pursue Chemistry in college. All the props to her because science was definitely NOT my strong suit. That’s why I went for art. Madelynn rocked her session with such grace and happiness I would have loved her session to go on even longer! Too bad that we were loosing daylight and we arrived at the end of the session.
